Funny Reviews on the Cretaceous Period

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (TV Series 2020–2022) Poster

Exciting, action-packed and funny animated TV series on Netflix. I love it!

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 2 is an exciting, action-packed, at times funny, animated TV series on Netflix! The series continues building upon the beloved Jurassic World and Jurassic Park franchise. If you are fascinated by dinosaurs (like I am) and you like adventure, you should definitely watch this show. Additionally, if you like the other Jurassic Park or Jurassic World movies, I bet you will love this series. I really enjoyed it!

The story is about six teenagers, Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Brooklyn (Jenna Ortega), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Ben (Sean Giambrone), Yaz (Kausar Mohammed) and Sammy (Raini Rodriguez) who go together to a camp in Jurassic World, called Camp Cretaceous. They have a fun time at the camp, but then all of a sudden all the dinosaurs living in Jurassic World become loose! The teenagers then need to figure out how to survive on an island with wild and crazy dinosaurs that attack the campers. Even though this may sound a little scary, there is humor throughout the episode. There are moments that had me laughing such as when stuff breaks that isn't supposed to, or when the characters say funny things.

In every episode of this series, there are new dinosaurs that pop into the show. The special effects surrounding these dinosaurs are awesome and seem incredibly realistic. The dinosaurs actually seem like they are alive. There is a T-Rex, Raptor, Mosasaurus, Compy, Stegosaurus and other prehistoric creatures. The dinosaurs are, by far, my favorite part of the show. The teenage characters all have different types of traits including: athletic, funny, scared of everything, famous, rich and loving dinosaurs. I enjoyed watching how they all end up working together as a team during the course of the series.

The primary message of the series is about teamwork and collaboration. The characters all end up working as a team.

I give Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18, plus adults. You can find Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 2 on Netflix, available January 22, 2021. By Conrad W., KIDS FIRST!

Unexpectedly great, with a lot of Heart - Not just for Kids

I've been a Jurassic Park fan my entire life, but being 25 years old, I was only mildly curious to take a look at Camp Cretaceaous.

While the first 3 episodes are pretty enjoyable, it seemed to be most appropriate for its target audience of young children.

However, once we get to episode 4, things suddenly change to an impressive degree. The stakes feel a lot higher, the tension is phenomenally well handled (especially for a children's show). I really feel like the creators did their best to get the most out of Jurassic World and I had a blast watching this show.

While I have some mixed feelings about the human characters' animation style, it was a minor gripe with a wonderful show. The dinosaurs are impressive. The musical score feels very true to Jurassic. And the story is absolutely entertaining.

The whole 1st season takes place around the same time period as the first Jurassic World and while some major movie moments cross paths with the series, Camp Cretaceaous never loses sight of its own story for the sake of fan service. It keeps respectful to the larger story, but manages to be an entirely gripping and enjoyable journey on its own.

The thing that stood out most to me was the human element of the whole series. While I was hesitant with some of the main characters at first, they all really grew on me. By episode 5 I was so attached to them, it became a roller-coaster of emotions every time they stumble into danger. Every kid in the show contributes beautifully to the cast and fills the show with a unique and endearing spirit.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceaous is a wonderful show with a lot of heart. I loved the full arc of this season and all its characters. I sincerely hope we get to see more seasons in the future.

I'm so glad I decided to give this a watch. I highly recommend it. Not just for kids.

More to life than Dinosaurs

Warning: Spoilers

Six kids with nothing in common are the first guest at Dinosaur camp with limited staff. Between their curiosity and things going awry, they find themselves in a different scenario in a fight for their lives, needing the skills of each individual.

The episodes are designed for binge-watching. Each episode picks up exactly where the last one leaves off. No recap. The series uses the soundtrack from the original. It was a fun group of kids to watch.

As an adult I really wasn't sure I'd like this since it seem based for teens, but its actually amazing.

So I'm 40 and at my age I'm not really into kid/teen type stuff. But I had seen reviews for this saying it was actually pretty decent and ties into the Jurassic World movies. So I figured I'd give it a shot.

I just finished both seasons and am very glad I watched it. Sure, the first 2-3 episodes were a bit corny, but the show really picks up steam and has a ton of dinosaur action. I was really impressed by how good the animation is. At times the dinosaurs look almost photo realistic, as does the water and jungle at times. Obviously the humans look a bit out of place but you get used to it.

Story wise it takes place when the first movie does and will see many scenes and be like "Oh say that is what happened!" Though as of these two seasons you will only actually see one person from the movies themselves, though voiced by someone else. While some of the story was predictable, there were scenes that had pretty good twists. Though don't expect anything super deep of course.

So if you don't mind a bit of silliness at times, this series is for you. And with more seasons to come, I look forward to more!

SIDE NOTE. For your super die hard JP/JW nerds... you will get ALOT of lore that answers some questions about the movies in general. More then I was expecting. Could be useful for the final JW movie.

It's for kids. It's just NOT ONLY for them.

Being a big fan of the Jurassic movies, this was on my watchlist. I had a really good time watching this show which might get mistaken for something that appeals only to kids. The way it unfolded with episodes full of exciting action, never-ending tension and several serious moments was nothing short of great and an indication that even adults can enjoy it. It had only 8 episodes but all of them worked big time and the animation was absolutely top notch.

The show is a family-friendly action adventure so you can watch it with your family without worrying about any objectionable content. What really impressed me was how the makers didn't hold back in terms of action and tension in spite of this being primarily targeted at young viewers. The peril could be perfectly felt, and the character moments also stood out, delivering a number of positive messages about the power of friendship, teamwork and believing in oneself.

I don't know if they'll make another season for this or not, but if they do, I'd truly appreciate it. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is indeed very well made and stands at par with the live-action movies. Of course, watching adult heroes participate in the action scenes is fun, but then so is watching kids do the same. It's very fast paced and you can easily finish it in one sitting. The ride was so exciting it left me exhausted in a positive way at the end, and I hope you too experience the same once you start watching this amazing show.

Amazing

I wasn't expecting much with this show, but it blew me away with how good it was. Even if you're not into Jurassic Park, you can still enjoy the show. The characters are all unique, likable, and relatable. There's a legitimate story to be found and some jaw-dropping animation. I could go on and on forever about how good this show is. Over the course of the show, each character has their own arc and we get to see how each of them develop and grow as individuals. For example, Kenji with his toxic masculinity, superiority complex, and daddy issues. There is one problem I have with the series though - its attitude towards teenagers. As a teenager myself, I know we're not perfect, but we're not self-absorbed phone addicts. I think the writers are very out of touch with today's youth as this show pushes a "phone bad" message. Other than that, it's a spectacular show you should be watching.

Welcome... to Camp Cretaceous.

'Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous' is the perfect show for kids to watch and for grown-up fans of the Jurassic Park / World franchise!

The show is set during the events of the 2015 film, Jurassic World, which follows six teenagers who are now stranded on Isla Nublar after multiple dinosaurs escape their habitats.

The animation looks very nice; the voice cast is very talented; the plot looks terrific; the characters are great; and Steven Spielberg's return as executive producer for animated shows was wonderful.

'Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous' will make you want to watch it again and again for die hard fans of Jurassic Park!

Wish they'd make more of these

Very good series, quite suspenseful. The art is pretty good, very binge worthy. Ties in nicely with the new Jurassic park movies

Where was this show when I was growing up?

I have to say that I loved this show simply because it made me feel like a kid again. At first, I thought Camp Cretaceous was just trying to coattail off of Jurassic Park. But man, I had to say this show had a lot of heart and emotion. Also, it did a great job of capturing the spirit of the original Jurassic Park films and Jurassic world. The callbacks are fun, and the dinos look cool. I really can't wait for another season. This is still a kids' show, and there are some over the top stuff. But I think the serious side of the show wins out, and you really do care about these characters. I think this show is best summarized by Dr. Ian Malcolm, who said, "OOH Auh, that's how it always starts. But later, there's running and screaming."

Can bet Jurass-i-can

This series didn't get too much of my attention when advertised as I didn't wanna be let down!

WRONG.........

From the opening moments to the closing a 26 & 33 old couple binge watched all the episodes in order with only toilet breaks allowed.

Don't get me wrong a few plot, character & over story bumps but honestly the show is something I wished to have had when I was younger so just seeing something like this available now for the next generation.

Spielberg, trevarrow & Marshall, thank you

Way better then expected!!

I've loved Jurassic Park since I was 12. I didn't know what to think of a new Jurassic World TV Series, especially with it being animated. I have to say I was blown away with how good it was. I thought it was gonna be a cheap kids show not worth it but I was wrong. The story is great, the animation is great and there were a lot of suspenseful moments. Definitely give this a shot if you're a Jurassic park fan. Just keep in mind this is a kids show after all so it's not as violent as the movies can be but that sure didn't stop them from making an awesome show. NETFLIX PLEASE RENEW FOR SEASON 2!

It has a rocky start, but stick with it through 4 episodes and it finds its footing.

Side note: This is a prequel/sidequel to Jurassic World, while seeing Jurassic World isn't required viewing to enjoy this show, it does help to have knowledge of that movie's events.

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is a well made adventure series that takes the established Jurassic Park franchise and tackles it from a unique perspective, but it doesn't make the best first impression. The show follows 6 teenagers who all get the opportunity to test out the neighboring survival camp area to Jurassic World, Camp Cretaceous. The kids consist of gamer/"dino-nerd" Darius, livestreamer Brooklynn, neurotic multiphobic worrywart Ben, pompous rich kid Kenji, enthusiastic and outgoing country girl Sammy, and athlete Yaz, who all get the chance to test out the soft opening of Camp Cretaceous through either having won a contest or familial connections to the Park. However when the Indominous Rex is unleashed and cuts a swath of destruction across Jurassic World and Camp Cretaceous the fight for survival begins.

Universal has been trying to make an animated series out of their lucrative Jurassic Park franchise since the mid 90s but it's always been trapped in the development stage and ultimately cancelled. The first season Escape from Jurassic Park got the furthest along in development before being aborted by Spielberg for reasons that vary depending on who you ask, another one came into development in the late 90s and early 2000s called Jurassic Park: Chaos Effect that would've focused on genetically engineered dinosaur hybrid but this was cancelled even further from development despite a line of toys and action figures already having been approved and released to retailers for sale. Now we see third time really is the charm as we get Camp Cretaceous which is good, but it makes a less than ideal impression in its opening episodes.

The biggest problems with the show in its opening is in its writing and its characters. If you've seen the reviews of this show, comparisons have been made between it and Willy Wonka and to a degree I understand the comparison. Each character more or less fits a "type" and very little is done to develop them beyond that "type" in the opening. The writing for the characters is also pretty sloppy as in the opening episodes we see them make monumentally dumb decisions just so the show has an excuse to have an action scene because it doesn't have the patience to build character before it moves into action set pieces.

Around episode 4 the series begins to find its footing and build its situation, intrigue and its characters. Without giving too much away we see a lot more meaningful interactions between the group that do lend themselves to pretty good character moments as well as genuinely thrilling ones. Since this is a sidequel to Jurassic World certain set pieces from that film are seen again here, but luckily they are viewed from a new angle and the show is smart enough to use portions of the park previously only hinted at in the movie but used to decent effect for some unique moments in the series(standouts include a scene on the monorail as well as beautifully animated scene with the kayaks).

The animation on the show is very well done with the dinosaurs conveying the same level of menace and weight they conveyed in the films. The humans are also quite well animated and are appropriately expressive and detailed without falling into the uncanny valley. The film actually had its production interrupted by the recent COVD pandemic and from the end product you couldn't tell this was completed via virtual working environment so hats off to the animators for finishing a full season of television under less than ideal conditions.

Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is a flawed but welcome addition to the Jurassic Park franchise. Despite a clumsy opening act the series does find its footing and manages to give a rousing adventure that should be enjoyed by most.

camping, hiking, sailing...and getting eaten by dinosaurs

Welcome to Camp Cretaceous, the most insanely dangerous kids summer camp since that one at Crystal Lake. This animated series follows the adventures of a group of children who land VIP invitations to a dinosaur-themed summer camp at the Jurassic World park. While not initially obvious, it's eventually made clear that the timing of the series aligns with the events of the first Jurassic World movie, meaning that characters and critters from the movie will be referenced or make appearances throughout the episodes.

Being aimed primarily at children, the personalities of the kids are heavily stereotyped tropes like the "nerd", the "Youtube star", the "rich kid", etc., although the series eventually evolves many of them, sometimes with surprisingly adult plotlines. Alongside the traditional themes of making friends and overbearing parental expectations are concepts like parent mortality and poverty. Adding to that, it wouldn't be Jurassic World if things didn't go horribly wrong at the park, and they do. Younger attendees of the park are given shiny sets of plot armor, but there are numerous adults not quite so lucky. There's no gore and the frequency of these events is kept relatively low, but younger viewers should probably have an adult supervising just in case.

Overall the stories are kept largely broad and easily digestible for their target audience at a kind of a dinosaur-themed spooky stories level, with just enough adult material to keep older viewers from being completely bored. The animation is detailed and beautiful and the voice acting competent if a bit over the top. The humor is family friendly and while there is implied violence and scary situations, it should be toned down enough that only very young viewers will have difficulty with it. Bottom line, if they've seen the movies there is nothing here that will be as scary as those so if you let your kids watch he movies they should probably be ok with the series, and if they're not quite ready for the movies but are anxious to see them this should be fine as a gentler introduction.

Not expected to be so great

My 4 year old twins loved it & so did my nieces & nephew ranging in ages (11, 11, 7 & 8).y kids started with season 1 & then were thrilled when season 2 came out.

The nieces & nephew learned about it as a suggestion from us when season 2 came out & shocked us by streaming all 2 seasons in a single weekend with the grandparents.

Everyone just loves it & we like watching it with them to. They add in a lot of the Jurassic Park / World magic & suspense without the gore & a nice plot for the kids. Highly recommend it for kids of all ages who love dinosaurs.

Re-education Camp

I'm not a person that dislikes character diversity, even when it's uncomfortably pandering. My problem is what this show teaches young white boys - Ben Pincus plays the sickly, nerdy white kid among a diversity of peers that behave with greater confidence and an air of superiority. It's a common trope for every system that incorporates diversity as the main tagline. We used to do this to other characters in older tv series & films as close as the later 1990's/ Non-white characters were given a side-kick role to the main characters and 'yes" they were predominantly white. Progressives caught on to that and while we should have ended the practice; We instead reversed the error so white male characters are the bumbling fools. This practice has justified (and encourages) a dislike of white people, even to the point where a young white child doesn't feel secure about themselves. So back to the point; How is it a good idea to make any of these kids the group's fool? A young child, who happens to be white, and who happens to be a boy, watching this program may not relate to that specific character, but even worse this program could influence said child's to dislike his own color. I find it complete insanity that anyone could applaud that notion. I thought we'd learn from history and had moved past this? I had imagined that in the year 2020 the notion that every child should be raised with the idea that no one is better than anyone else. So why create the scenario that a white male child is less than another?

Pow Pow!

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be a well educated adult, but I so do love animations. Especially, from Spielberg Studios with a Jurassic Park theme! Now you might be asking, what makes this animation so special for an adult male to watch? Well, I do believe that the story line with 3D animation puts it over the top. Since this film is PG , it obviously can't show a whole lot of gore or violence. But it sure racks up on suspense. Be afraid people! Be afraid of these brand new sequence story lines of dinosized FEAR to peruse at your beck 'n call. Cheerio, and have a blast! Pax, Murf

Intriguing & Fast-Paced - S04 Review

Warning: Spoilers

Even more action-packed 'dino moments' prevailed in season 4 of Netflix's "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous". It seamlessly carried forward the events that concluded the preceding season, and turned the adventure - or rather, misadventure - dial up several degrees.

A skilled team of directors and writers pooled their brilliance into creating a JW-themed animation series that felt as thrilling and entertaining to watch as some of the films themselves. Musical scoring by Leo Birenberg was aces. The animation, VFX, sound, and editing teams also worked 'toon magic' on "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous" season 4.

The kids are facing quite the challenge trying to get away from the dinosaurs they'd originally come to Isla Nublar to see. Darius (voiced by Paul-Mikél Williams), Yasmina (voiced by Kausar Mohammed), Brooklynn (voiced by Jenna Ortega), Kenji (voiced by Ryan Potter), Sammy (voiced by Raini Rodriguez), and Ben (voiced by Sean Giambrone) were brilliant in their voice-roles.

Season 4 sees them stranded on another island with strange multifarious biomes, and coming face-to-snout with - rather, running hand and foot from - dinosaurs like T-Rex, Spinosaurus, Mosasaurs, Ceratosaurus, Indominus Rex, Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, and a memorable prehistoric creature like the saber-tooth tiger. The main herbivore they befriend is a Kentrosaurus named Pierce. They introduce a few baby dinos too, like a Brachiosaurus and a Sinoceratops hybrid.

All eleven episodes in "Camp Cretaceous" S04 packed plenty of thrill and action, with not a small amount of intrigue, suspense, twists, and 'coming of age' elements.

The core antagonist this time round was Kash Langford (voiced by Haley Joel Osment), a Mantah Corp. Employee and roboticist. He's scheming ways to force dinos into doing battle with one another whilst inside different biomes all so he can rake in big bucks through interested viewers and gamblers who can afford the experience. The kids, of course, make up their minds to put a stop to his cruelty.

Dr. Mae Turner (voiced by Kirby Howell-Baptiste), a behavioural paleo-neurobiologist, worked for Kash but was ignorant of Mantah Corp's capitalist agenda. When she found her work and passion betrayed, she chose to help the kids put an end to it all.

The B. R. A. D. is a new kind of canine enforcer mecha unit this season. The 'Bio-Robotic Assistance Droids' prove to be both a hassle and nuisance to the kids. They serve Kash's whims and are not friendly in the slightest. Roger Craig Smith voiced their cold clinical digi-tones.

Season 4 further stoked my passion for this franchise and all things 'Dinosaur' - especially the parts where they explored dino social life and emotions. I enjoyed the fast pace and witty writing, as well as the gorgeous 3D animation. Season 4 of "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous" on Netflix certainly lived up to its hype.

The season was entertaining from start to finish, left no loose ends, and established one heckuva cliffhanger. Kenji's dad, Daniel (voiced by Andrew Kishino) is the head of Manta Corp.! Looks like season 5 is going to have quite the complex plotline.

Wowzers... far better than expected

I went in with low expectations since, you know, kiddy show. Was surprised far beyond expectations. *MILD SPOILERS* Wow this was good. The trailers do not do it justice. And those who thought there was gonna be no tension, no deaths, there will be 'surprises' to say the least. There are incredibly thrilling and blood pumping scenes with the Mosasaurus and Pteranodons, the characters are enjoyable, it expands on the lore, it has awesome subtle references, the music is amazing, and gives us a unique and tense Pteranodon theme, the arcs are well plotted, The animation on the dinosaurs is magnificent, the mood of the series is great. You can really tell Steven Spielberg had a say in the production of this thing. This is a kids show afterall though, there are some quite cringe worthy scenes, no new species, many dumb decisions, ... some unbelievable plot points, people giving a pep talk in the middle of a dino crisis (no pun intended), and then some stuff. Still really really loved it and the humour worked for me. 7.5/10; better than JP 3

Surprisingly enjoyable! Few drawbacks.

As a 28 year old guy, I was highly skeptical of this when it was announced. I was pleasantly surprised in a big way! Solid animation (the dinosaurs look GREAT), enjoyable tie ins, and most shockingly of all, there was even some character development and legit emotional moments if you allow yourself to connect with the characters.

The only real drawback I felt was the way the show portrays kids like SUCH idiots, with everyone acting out and breaking the rules at every turn, except for the one scaredy-cat kid, who is so over the top it's mostly annoying. Most kids aren't actually like that, and shouldn't be written as such. The camp counsellors reactions to the rule breaking (essentially! "Go to your room!") were pretty unrealistic too.

Past that, it was overall incredibly enjoyable, and I sure hope they do more!

It would've worked if it wasn't for those meddling kids.

Camp Cretaceous is a great idea but the main protagonist of Darryl is written so poorly.

My 4 year old son who is dinosaur mad, kept asking me why the kids were being "stupid" and "naughty" which are valid questions because by the end of the first episode you have stopped routing for them entirely, and this is a trend that continues on a downward spiral throughout the entire 2 seasons.

The dinosaurs are animated well but the humans not so much, I've seen better character model and movement on YouTube videos to he honest,(especially when they run).

Michael Crichton would be embarrassed...

Now we have confirmation that nobody has any standards for the Jurassic Park series anymore. Is it possible to be the worst animated show ever? A series with kids as the main characters, who are the dumbest people in existence, and the driving force of the show is a kid doing the stupidest thing he can think of in order for something to happen in the episode. This is the most embarrassing thing to happen to Jurassic Park since Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom. I can't wait for Dominion to fall into the proverbial volcano melting pot that is the franchise. Michael Crichton is rolling over in his grave. A series with a slightly amusing premise is turned into an utter farce, complete with the worst characters ever, even worse dialogue, and animation that makes direct-to-video Disney ripoffs blush. This is all yours and more for only a moderate fee at your local Jurassic Park merchandiser, conveniently located in the nearest dumpster. After Star Wars: Resistance and Star Trek: Lower Deck, I didn't think any other animated series would top off the complete failure in every conceivable way category, but Spielberg, Universal and Dreamworks said "Just you wait, and hold my beer."

Highly enjoyable children's animated show

This show is a show aimed for children, so if you an adult reviewer, consider the audience as I did, as my kids loved these show. They felt the dinosaurs were great, the actions scenes amazing and the characters funny. Now putting an adult lense on it, I felt the references to Jurassic World were great and some of the characters clichéd but not unbelievable. It's a cartoon suspend your belief! So on the whole as a parent with dinosaur obsessed kids this was great and I also enjoyed it.

I wanted the kids to get eaten...

This series takes place before the events of the first Jurassic World film. It's about an adventure camp on Isla Nublar that has not yet been opened for the general public and is "tested" by some specially selected kids, of course ethnically diverse because this is a show from 2020. Having arrived at the camp, adventure begins.

The animation is quite good. It looks like a little more care was taken of the surroundings and the dinosaurs than the human characters. But I don't mind that because they aren't intetesting anyway.

And this is my main problem with this series. I love Jurassic Park and at least enjoyed the other films. All of those films had teenagers in them who were in trouble and in danger of getting eaten. But none of them were as unnerving and unsympathetic as the group of kids we are presented here.

Kenji, the rich kid, is unbelievably stupid and seems to have decided to think of the worst possible decision constantly and then do it.

Brooklynn the social media addict is kind of the main 'girl character'. I guess we're supposed to root for her but I just felt sorry for this attention-craving, shallow parody of a real girl.

And don't get me started on the kid whose name I couldn't even remember who is probably even scared of his own shadow in the mirror. Why did he join the camp in the first place? Was he threatened by his parents?

Probably the only character I found a little more realistic and engaging was the sporty girl simply because she didn't seem too over-the-top.

So, I watched the entire show to see if one or two of the kids get eaten by the T-Rex. Since this is a spoiler-free review, I won't tell you if my wish has been granted.

I know that this is a kid's show and I don't have a problem with that. There are great shows for kids out there! Shows with interesting, likeable characters who can function as role models for your own kids.

But this is not it. JW:CC has decent action and nice dinosaurs (probably the reason why anybody watches this anyway). If you care about more than that, don't watch it.
